Currently Jason works for the Obliviation department of the Ministry of Magic, transferred from MACUSA.
In the evenings, weekends or on 'time off', he will undertake jobs as dictated to by Doc who determines the high price gigs for the small group of professionals he orchestrates.
At present they can be found doing small jobs, ground work and getting their hands dirty in assistance to Grindelwald, though the devotion is absent not categorising Jason as an acolyte. He prefers the 'I don't ask questions as to who it's for, I just take the money' approach. Though he does find the whole thing rather fascinating, the game of cat and mouse the acolytes play. Personally he prefers less of a long game, more an in and out job, get the rush and move on.
Jason and Monica can also be found taking other jobs on the side, a little more freedom and extra cash is never a bad thing. Usually this is done through someone contacting Monica, Jason has been deemed as rather tempermental when it comes to being approachable. In saying that he has his moments, if you can hook him he'll accept with little question.
BACKGROUND
Jason was employed as an American Auror, during this time he had constructed a rather comfortable life for himself with a steady job, apartment and a girlfriend. Upon the surface the man was content with how things had panned out.
In truth the mundane nature of it all was beginning to wear on his already thinning patience, the relationship issues did nothing but exacerbate the matter. A cycle of regular hours, paperwork, suits, suppression of temper and arguments with his other half was beginning to suffocate the man. Yet with no other alternative he continued believing that if nothing else he was at least doing some good for people preforming his duties as an Auror to the letter.
During this time he relocated to another building, the pair of them using their new home as a way to monitor an individual targeted for a raid by the department for illegal activity. It went well enough, though the work life balance seemed to shift significantly. The relocation caused him to meet Monica, another resident of the apartment complex. Over time the relationship blossomed to the point he greatly wished to get out of his previous one, start a new life. Yet both being connected to work this seemed impossible.
It was then the character they were watching came into play, Doc offered a way out for the pair of them, all he had to do was obliviate the memory of his partner and destroy the apartment, the apparent duel which could be concluded as Jason having been attacked by acolytes, his ex having been planted with the memory of it to back up his clam (since Jason erased the real one) and thus this would divert the raid for an investigation giving Doc enough time to get out of the way and become untraceable once more. To this he agreed.
Carrying out the actual deed went awry, despite being skilled in memory charm the spell backfired, having the desired result but also causing partial erasure of both Jason and Monica's memories.
Doc used this opportunity to take both of them into his employment, filling in the gaps with details that would gear them to willingly working with him. Thus providing them the life they wanted but at a call they would be on jobs for him, with a cut of the profits. It was seen as beneficial for Jason to no longer undertake Auror tasks due to the incident in the field and it was decided he should be relocated as an Obliviator within MACUSA before being transferred to the Ministry of Magic after the events in France.
This of course was not a decision that came about without influence. Orchestrated to work better within the parameters of Doc's freelance work. To get out of the heat for a little while, England seemed the perfect place.
PERSONALITY
Jason puts forth as being a rather cheerful type at work, or rather someone who is easily entertained by the antics of others. A rather grumpy individual he curtails this significantly at work using it as more of a general serious expression that is easily worked around.
Outside of work he is easily angered, a short fuse for a ferocious temper and tendency to steer towards physical violence instead of a wand. A sure fire way to doing this, besides instigating a fight with him, is to insult Monica or be caught looking at her in a way he disapproves of. When his temper runs away with him it is difficult to curtail and has often resulted in reckless brutality in order for him to erase the cause of it. To put it politely.
Fiercely protective of those he cares about, he will defend them regardless of their ability to defend themselves as well as help whenever asked.
A soft spot resides in the man though it may be difficult to get to.
